Congrats Gerardo...You're Our Favorite Deputy!!!

5 years ago Gerardo took his Oath to Serve and Protect & became a Deputy Sheriff with San Joaquin County! I remember the day very clearly as I was pregnant with Lilly, and could not attend his Badging Ceremony because I was on bed rest! But a lot of his family members did go, including his mom, which was very special to him!
On this day, 5 years later, we got together to celebrate all of his accomplishments and congratulate him on a job well done! I have to especially thank him for doing all that he does for me and our children. If it wasn't for this job, I would not be able to stay home with the kids and give them the care that I do! Thank you Gerardo for everything you do!!

My Boy Genius

Aaron has discovered playing games online! He used to go on NickJr website to watch videos of his favorite shows, but now he loves to go on the website & play the games.

All of the games are educational & fun. We are VERY surprised how good he is at these games! He can 'point & click' like a pro! He has awesome hand/eye coordination.

This is one of his favorite games: It is a Wonder Pets Alphabet Game. He is really good at it, since he knows all of his alphabet by sight & sound, this game is perfect for him!

1st Day of School, 1st Day of School..

Last Wednesday was Lilly's first day of Kindergarten. Since she is only 4 years old and not quite all the way potty-trained, we have decided to home school her for kindergarten and send her to school full-time for 1st grade.

This may not be the decision that some of you might have come up with, but I have to believe that this is best for my princess. She is very young starting Kindergarten and we were just NOT comfortable sending her to public school for Kindergarten to get lost in a class of 35 kids!

She is doing wonderfully so far in homeschooling. We do her homework everyday. Aaron even gets in on the homework, so he's learning too. She is really good about doing her work and she is pretty smart when it comes to the work that she is doing.

Next year she will go to the Lighthouse Christian Academy w/ Jacob, and we will be much more comfortable with her there.

For now, she meets w/ her teacher Mrs.Blackburn once a week to turn in her weekly work that she has done w/ me. This is her on her first day...all dressed up!

Where did that little Red-Headed boy come from???

Papa and his grand kids...
I love this picture of my dad with my children! He will be 69 this year and is still having a fun time with his grand kids!!
I also think it's a great picture because you can see how different all of my children look! Lilly looks mostly like her dad, she has a lot of 'Flores' in her face and in her character.
But, my boys are almost ALL Chavoya! They both look just like me and have Chavoya personalities...lol!!!
It's so funny to see my boys with their heads close together like this because you can see how different they look! You would never think that they are brothers, Jacob has such dark, black hair (which he actually gets from my mom)...and then there is my Red-Headed boy Aaron...
I know that Gerardo had light colored hair when he was a toddler. But I truly believe that this red hair comes from the Chavoya side of the family. My grandmother's brother's had bright red hair.
This is actually a picture of a couple of my cousins that have been blessed with red hair...just in case you don't believe me...lol...

Aaron's Favorite Thing to Do:

I have a 2 year old that is addicted to the Internet. This is his favorite thing to do and his favorite place to be: right in front of the computer.
His favorite website is nickjr.com, he watches Yo Gabba Gabba, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, The Wonder Pets, Go Diego Go, Dora the Explorer and all of the others...
I really cannot complain too much about his addiction to the computer and to the t.v. because he is actually one of the most gifted 2 year olds I have ever seen!...
He knows, by sight, about 1/2 of the alphabet, and even knows the sounds that they make!! Just yesterday when we were walking into Kohl's, I asked him what each letter was and he KNEW K, O, H, L, S,...he said without missing a beat!!
He can also count to 10 and knows, by sight, the numbers 1-10!! If we get into an elevator I can tell him to push "3"...and HE WILL, he won't push any other buttons except the number that I tell him to!!
Even though I am his mom, I do believe that he is advanced for his age, I may be wrong as far as the exact milestones should be, but I am just going by/comparing Aaron to my other two children, both Jacob and Lilly learned their alphabets and letters around 4 years of age. Am I bragging...yeah, maybe..but hey!...he's my kid..that's allowed right???
He is a special boy! And his Tia's have even said that he is 'super special' and 'marches to the beat of his own drum'....he is one heck of a kiddo!!
Good Job Aaron!!

cousins...

When I looked through pictures from this weekend, this one just really stuck out to me.
Cousins..pure and simple..having fun!!
With all the beach/fun/food we had this weekend, for some reason this fountain at The Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey had the kids attention the most!!
You can see it in Lilly, Aaron & Ivan's faces, they are having just plain fun!
I will post all the pictures of the Pajaro Dunes/Monterey weekend soon, but I just had to post this one now....it is very 'blog worthy'...lol...:)

Dancin' with Yo Gabba Gabba

So the babies are soooo into Yo Gabba Gabba right now. Especially Aaron he is totally addicted.

They know all the words and songs by heart. They even have the dance moves memorized.

This is their favorite episode, it has Jack Black in it and it's pretty funny if I say so myself.

They love this song, I'm not sure of the name of it, but they love to sing and dance to it.

Please excuse Aaron's terrible eating manners, he doesn't quite understand why he can't eat and sing at the same time :-)

Stitches...

On Saturday Gerardo was trying to be nice and take us all out for a nice lunch. We decided to go to a new diner that just opened here in Madera.
The kids were so excited because the 'theme' of the restaurant is country with bears. When we walked in they had so much neat stuff to look at and they had the most beautiful, delicious strawberry pies, which we were all excited to taste!!

Then...just as we were starting to sit down, Aaron tried to pull out his own chair and sit down...and then it happened.....

All I heard was a blood curdling scream and saw Aaron lying on the floor and next to him was the big wooden chair that he was trying to sit in. I jumped up, grabbed him and noticed blood pouring from his chin. I rushed him to the bathroom where I tried to wash him up, but the blood seemed to be pouring from his face! It looked like a scene from a horror movie, I had blood dripping down my neck from him clinging to me, he had blood all over his face...it was all I could do not to faint right then and there.
Well, after we got the blood to stop rushing, we could see a big gash on his chin. To me it looked like he might have bitten all the way through his lip to the outside of his chin, I had seen that on an episode of Jon & Kate plus eight..and I was just sure that is what happened.

After a frantic phone call to Kaiser and speed-driving across Madera county to Fresno Kaiser, we made it to the doctors office. At this point Aaron was actually in good spirits and had quit most of the crying....
Until, that is...he saw...the doctor...
That's when screams in a decibel I had never heard before began! And he screamed.."mommy", "daddy".."mommy"..."daddy"....for the next 2 hours.
The doctor said he would need stitches and he was taken to a surgery room. He was wrapped up 'papoose' style so he couldn't move and then his face was covered with a sterile drape. This made our baby boy cry even more and yell out to us for comfort. Which, of course, made me cry just about as hard as he was!!
In the end, he fell asleep while getting the stitches. He got 2 stitches, which he will get removed this Thursday. The doctor was actually really wonderful and patient. He did a great job with the stitches...even though Gerardo and I kept looking at each other and praying he would hurry up...we are glad in the end that he took his time because the last thing we want is a big, ugly scar on our cute boy's face.
So, like Noemi says...there is ALWAYS something happening in the Chavoya-Flores household...and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon...lol!!!

Aaron the Photographer....

This is what happens when your 2 year old gets a hold of your camera....
